How Long Does a Roof Last in North Texas?
In Dallas-Fort Worth, architectural asphalt shingles typically last 15 to 25 years, standing seam metal 40 or more, and tile 40 or more with an underlayment replacement somewhere around year 25. Printed 30- and 50-year ratings assume laboratory weathering, not repeated hail and 100-degree roof surface temperatures.

Do Solar Panels Need to Be Removed to Replace a Roof?
Yes. A proper roof replacement removes everything down to the deck, and a solar array is mounted through the roof surface with penetrations that must be re-flashed into the new roof. Roofing around panels leaves old underlayment and old penetrations in place, which is not a replacement, and it typically voids workmanship coverage on those areas.
