Should I Replace My Roof Before Installing Solar?
If your roof is older than roughly 12 years in North Texas, replace it before installing solar. Solar equipment commonly carries 25-year warranties, and mounting a 25-year system on a roof with under a decade of life guarantees you pay for a detach and reinstall that correct sequencing would have avoided entirely.

Why this gets missed
Solar sales conversations are about energy production and financing, not roof condition. A solar company is generally not going to walk away from a sale because your roof has eight years left, and many will not evaluate the roof in any depth. The result is a homeowner who saves nothing on the front end and pays for detach and reinstall on the back end.
